This vase has been glazed with matte cobalt over an oatmeal clay body, with clear glaze inside the vase. The oatmeal clay is coloured with oxides and foraged black sand. The blue glaze used here is particularly vibrant, and close up, specks from the black sand in the clay are also visible.
